The original documents with names, photos and dates relating to the fates of around 17.5 million people not only help reconstruct paths of persecution. Many holdings in the Arolsen Archives illuminate overarching topics such as the system of imprisonment in concentration camps and the dimensions of forced labor. Here we provide an insight into selected collections on Nazi persecution and the impact of these crimes, which extended far beyond 1945.
