#StolenMemory at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum
From October 14 to November 14, the #StolenMemory exhibition will be on display at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. We look forward to your visit.
Watches, jewelry, family photos – the Nazis confiscated all their prisoners’ personal belongings when they put them in concentration camps. The Arolsen Archives still hold the last possessions of about 2,500 victims of persecution from all over Europe. We’re working with volunteers to search for their families in order to return the stolen mementoes to them.
The exhibition explains what happened to 14 persecutees and tells the story of the search for their families. QR codes enable you to access to interviews with relatives in the exhibition and see them talk about what the return of their loved ones’ belongings still means to them today. We’ll also show you how you can take part in #StolenMemory and hunt for clues yourself.
Admission is free.
