Documenting and exhibiting persecution and deportations in Europe from 1938 to 1945
The two-day conference, organized by the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial in cooperation with the Arolsen Archives and Körber-Stiftung, gathers curators and scholars from museums, memorial sites and research institutions from Germany and abroad. It serves as an exchange on how persecution and deportations can be documented, exhibited and mediated through educational activities. On the basis of latest research on the extent of systematic persecution and, in particular, the deportations during National Socialism, the conference intends to discuss contemporary exhibition concepts and innovative forms of documentation and mediation in museums and places of remembrance from different European countries. The conference will be held in German and English language with translation. Translation of parts of the event in German sign language is possible upon request in advance. Participation in the conference is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.
